About me, Jenny Newland:
My journey into Monday Memory Club began many years ago when I was volunteering at various memory groups around North London.
Following my late mother’s Alzheimer’s diagnosis, and subsequent caring for her, I wanted to be actively involved in getting my mum out to as many clubs as possible in order to maximise her cognitive function and social interaction.
From there, I decided I wanted to start my own memory club with forefront emphasis on getting people engaged and mentally stimulated as much as possible whilst maximising the social interaction element.
Monday Memory Club continues to grow from strength to strength and all our members have been part of our growth since it’s inception.
Come join in and be part of our unique Monday Memory Club family.

About Monday Memory Club:
Monday memory club is for anyone who wants to have fun while stimulating their brain. We have clients with dementia diagnosis and their companions, we have clients with no diagnosis at all.
From the moment you walk through the door you are welcomed into a very special place that is all heart and all fun, what could be better?!
The incredible staff: Tony Potts and Dawn Such, will take your order of a choice of hot or cold drinks while you take your seat alongside new friends.
Our tables are laid with all sorts of material to stimulate all different minds and those at various stages of dementia.
We have word search, crossword and drawing books with either colour pencils or crayons. A collection of brightly coloured large and small wooden puzzles, dominos and fidget toys such as push pops, great for limbering up the fingers as well as general sensory. Or, simply sit back with your drink and biscuit and skim through a paper, catching up on local and national news.
Some weeks you will find a picture quiz all ready on the table for you and your team to fill in before the main quizzes begin, or you could be straight into a "name that tune" quiz.
Bingo is always played, and a small selection of prizes is always on offer.
Pictionary again gets everyone involved whether taking part in drawing or guessing and lastly dancing and singing with answers to our "name that tune" quiz.
In-between our quizzes, you will be served with a healthy option of fruit and crackers and you will regularly be offered your choice of drinks from tea & coffee with either semi or plant milk as well as hot chocolate and herbal teas with honey or a cool glass of squash .
Monday Memory Club supplies gluten free/vegan biscuits & crackers to cater for those with alternative diets.

Testimonials from clients and sponsors:
- My wife Rita suffered from Dementia. When she was able, she loved going out to various Memory Clubs and we have attended Jenny's Magical Mondays since it first started. I have to say Monday memory Club is certainly one of the best and has attracted a lovely attendance at her weekly meetings in St Andrew’s Church in Southgate. Though my wife sadly passed away, I am still keen on attending the Club as it is such a friendly atmosphere and everyone benefits even those like me who are not suffering.

- Several weeks ago, I started attending the ‘Memory Club’ organised and run by Jenny, on Mondays from 11.00 14.00. I feel Jenny is doing an excellent job coordinating and bringing a lot of us together. The various activities are thought provoking, stimulating and good fun, often with music and dance that brings reminiscence of the past to many of us no doubt. She looks into every detail, providing with all the necessary utensils and also snacks and drinks. Jenny’, demeanour is ideally suited to this task and I am sure like myself, most, if not all those who attend this club must be looking forward to Monday midday. Well done Jenny. Keep up the good work 👍🏻.

- I'm not much of a scribe, but can say how lovely you are and how enjoyable your sessions are. Making everyone welcome, always there to listen and making it fun with quizzes, music, dancing and not forgetting Bingo with prizes. Jenny's Memory Club is a game-changer! Her dedication to supporting people with dementia through music, dancing, quizzes, and bingo is truly inspiring. The joy and sense of community she creates is palpable. If you or a loved one is living with dementia, Jenny's club is a must-attend - it's a haven of fun, friendship, and memories to cherish." I'm so grateful for Jenny's Memory Club, where laughter, music, and memories flow freely. Her passion and care for every individual is evident in every session. Jenny's club has become a highlight of the week for my partner who has Dementia and we can't recommend it enough.

- A family friend, whose wife suffers from Dementia, suggested that I should try the Memory Club at St Andrews Church, Southgate, as he attends it regularly with his wife. I gave it a try, and took my wife who suffers from Alzheimer’s Disease. It is now the highlight of our week, and we’ve attended for the best part of the last year. It’s run every Monday from 11.00 to 14.00 by Jenny Newland, who offers a range of games, and musical events. There are at least a dozen attendees at every session, and we’ve built up a group of friends as a result. Jenny is very sympathetic, and caring towards all the people present. She works very hard in preparing the timetable of activities, and presents them with great enthusiasm. It has really helped my wife in accepting the attitude required when suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease, and the weekly event has really helped me, as her registered carer. Thank you, Jenny, and please keep up the great work.

- Jenny. I wish you the best with all your social activities , and your groups you run. Its a privilege for me also to join in the fun filled, very friendly, group of friends and take part in the various activities such as the quiz programmes, bingo, and reminiscing the good old days of the famous films & songs and dances. Hope you continue with your excellent work for many years to come .

- Jenny is a bundle of energy and incredibly patient with everyone who attends the memory club - you can really tell she loves what she does! All of Jenny’s classes are great and have had a positive impact on my grandparent who attends. On top of this, Jenny has personally helped me sharing her extensive knowledge and experience around dementia as I navigate a new and challenging time.

- I have been going along to Monday Memory Club since November 2024. It is run by a lovely lady called Jenny. We have a pictures quiz, pop quiz, play Pictionary, which is always a laugh! Jenny puts out colouring books and pencils, word search books, fidget games, dominos and noughts and crosses! We always enjoy the quizzes, and usually end up having a good laugh. Music is always good, and some of the members like to get up and have a dance. Jenny also likes to get us to join in a good old sing song, she provides us with plenty of tea and coffee, sdrinks and snacks (healthy ones!). I don't think any of us come out of the club feeling miserable, Jenny really puts her heart and soul into making sure we all have a good time.

- Jenny Newland runs The Monday Memory club which has been a lifeline for our community, Dementia sufferers and caregivers here in Southgate. The social interaction and stimulating activities, games, quizzes, puzzles and sing along sessions provide comfort in connecting with other caregivers who understand the challenges of Dementia. It's a safe and welcoming space where members can be themselves and find support. Jenny Newland who runs the club, is an absolute Diamond! Not only does she dedicate her time and efforts into running the club every week, she caters for all needs and abilities of the members of the club.
- Jenny reached out to Asda Southgate Circus for some support, and as I am the Community Champion (Sejal Shah) at Asda Southgate Circus, I was more than happy to support her and her club! Jenny is such a sweet, kind hearted soul, who goes over and beyond to take care of the dietary requirements of her club members too, and I was able to support her by donating some refreshments and snacks for her club . Nothing is too much trouble for Jenny, she does many volunteering activities throughout the week. Jenny also sings & writes, her background before working with children for 17 years as well as many other variety of jobs was and is theatrical.
- Many of the club members may had been feeling overwhelmed, lonely and isolated however since joining the Monday Memory Club it has been a lifeline. It's a safe space to connect with other caregivers, share experiences, socialise, and receive valuable advice. The club also provides respite for many carers, knowing that their loved ones are in a safe and engaging environment. Jenny is incredibly patient and supportive, and creates a welcoming environment for everyone along with much enthusiasm and fun and of course brain exercises and stimulation!
- I highly recommend this club to anyone looking for support, and a welcoming space to have fun and enjoy brain stimulating activities and enjoy a cuppa with a biscuit, in our community! Jenny and the club provide a wonderful opportunity to socialize, participate in stimulating games and activities; and feel a sense of belonging. For many that attend the club, it has been absolutely invaluable. They share tips, offer each other encouragement, and feel less alone in this journey. The club has truly made a positive difference in our community and for those that attend. Jenny does a fantastic job and that with a smile always! Thank you Jenny!
